Hello,

I have a correction for Stuart Ryder Ginger. He and Lacy May Ginger were married in 1904 Not 1914. They were my great-grandparents.

Stuart also died on February 14, 1956.

Thank you!
Charlotte Moore

Admin reply: Hello, Charlotte!

Thank you for catching my typo and for giving me some additional information about your great-grandparents. Since the approximate year of their marriage came from the 1910 census, it clearly couldn't have been 1914!

However, there are more records available now than there were when I was last researching this couple. I have now found their exact marriage date (7 Sep 1904 in Bath County, Virginia), and also Stewart's death certificate (he died, as you said, on 14 Feb 1956 in Bolar).

It will be a few months before my web pages get updated, but I've updated my tree at home. And I do thank you for bringing this error to my attention.

I'm guessing we're about 6th or 7th cousins. Nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by my website.

Kirsty Haining

Hi Kirsty,
We have a new exhibition opening up soon at our Museum and have some of John Fisher's office equipment on display. We do not however, have a photo of him anywhere in our collection. Could we please have permission to use the photo of John Fisher displayed here, we are happy to attribute it to you/or your site. We would also love to connect with you further, in relation to the family.

Nga mihi, Suzie

Admin reply: Hi, Suzie --

I've already sent you a direct email, but wanted to leave a post on my guestbook page, too, so it wouldn't look like I had ignored you. :!cool:

Thanks again,

Hi, In this week leading up to the centenary on of the end of WW1 my niece was asking about a relative killed at Gallipoli in 1915. I have a picture stored away somewhere and I know my cousin has done a lot of work on this but for quickness I suggested a quick google name search and up popped my Great Grandfather’s picture on your family history website!
My Great Grandfather was David Jaffrey Findlay and we are descended from one of his two sons - William Findlay.
Thank you for all your hard work, your family tree is an immense work. I know David had a lot of siblings some of whom I believe emigrated to the USA and Canada from Scotland.
Best Wishes, Sue

Admin reply: Hi, Sue —

It's so nice to hear from you. It was your cousin Louise who shared the photo of your great-grandfather with me. She and I have been in touch for some years now, because we are related through the Jaffrey line (your great-grandfather's mother was Penelope Galt Jaffrey).

Obviously, that makes us related, too. We are 5th cousins once removed. When I first got started in genealogy, over a dozen years ago now, I met a 5th cousin who helped me learn about our shared relatives. At the time, a 5th cousin seemed impossibly distant, but the more research I've done the more I realize that 5th cousins are actually relatively close, genealogically speaking. :D

At any rate, it's good to hear from you. I will try to contact you by direct email within the next week or two.

Best wishes,

Hi Kirsty,

My Grandmother on my fathers side was a Crawford. Her Father was Frederick Henry Crawford and her Mother was Frederick's first wife Kate Robertson. They had three children, my Grandmother Ethel Lindsay B 1881 D 1959 being the eldest. There were twin boys Reginald William B 1885 D 1891 Charles Gordon b 1885 D 1949.
Ethel Married Arthur Sandes Webb and they had two children Gladys Kate who married Stanley Sinclair and my Father Gordon Lindsay B 1915 D 1986 He married Evelyn May Cottam. They had four children. My Wife Lesley Anne Webb ( Tisdall)
and I have three children four grand children and nine Great grand children. And so it grows. Hope this is of some interest :D . Regards Gerry Webb

Admin reply: Hi, Gerry —

It's very nice to hear from you. My relative is Jane Margaret Clugston or Wright, the second wife to your great-grandfather Frederick Henry Crawford. As far as I know, they did not have any living children. If they had, we would have shared some relatives in common.

Would you happen to have a photo of Jane? Or do you know anything about the baby who died?

Thanks for stopping by my website, and for sharing your information.

Good morning Kirsty
I am writing to tell you how much I appreciate the hard work and dedication you have put into the research for this website. I have found the information very interesting as up until a year ago we had no idea that the family had relatives in the USA from the convict era in Tasmania.
I am descended from Elizabeth Thomas, a first fleet convict. Most of the family research for the past few decades has been focused on her and on the other convict forebears - the historical record is very rich with artifacts.
Warm regards
Gwen

Admin reply: Hi, Gwen —

How very nice to hear from you, cousin! I've been doing genealogy for a number of years now. When I first got started, we had some information about my 3rd great grandmother born in Australia, but not much. We weren't even positive at first about her maiden name... some said Cooper, and others said McGinnis. It is fortunate for me that she was descended from First Fleeters and there has been a fair amount of research on those families, otherwise I might never have been able to connect my relative with her Australian forbears and other connections.

I will send you a direct email soon, and you can tell me about your descendancy from our mutual ancestor Elizabeth Thomas.

cheers,

Hello from Kansas! I am writing to you because I am the niece of Uncle Charlie (Nelson). Aunt Lillie and Uncle Charlie were my favorite Aunt and Uncle and I spent many days growing up with them on their farm in Denmark, Kansas. My Dad was Harry Nelson, youngest brother of Uncle Charlie. I have done my family tree and ancestry DNA. Are you related through Aunt Lillie (Errebo)? Anyway, thought I would sign the guestbook and let you know about Uncle Charlie. I have photos of their honeymoon in Seattle Washington.

Admin reply: Hi, Cynthia!

It's nice to hear from you. I'm actually not related to the Nelsons or the Errebos. At least, not so far as I know. Although when the tree is set up in pedigree-style, it can difficult to tell where the connections are. It's a little complicated, so I'll send you an email soon and explain it more. It boils down to us having cousins in common.

Thanks for visiting my website. Happy Fall!

cheers,
